John J. Flynn

Attorney John J. Flynn is the owner of the law firm Flynn Keith & Flynn in Kent, Ohio, where he has practiced law for over 42 years.  John obtained his B.A. degree from Mount Union College (now Mount Union University) (1971), and received his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law (1974).  Upon graduating from law school, John returned to his hometown to start his own law practice, which has been located at 250 South Water Street, in downtown Kent, since 1980.  John served twenty-two (22) years on the Kent Board of Education,  the Board of the Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation and he currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Mount Union.  He previously served on the Boards of the Area Agency on Aging Legal Advisory Council, Mount Union College Alumni Council, Kent Historical Society, Kent Visiting Nurses, Kent Rotary Foundation, Kent Rotary Club (also as club president), and the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce.

Michele K. Keith

Attorney Michele K. Keith is a native of Morris County, New Jersey, but has called Kent her home since 1993. Michele received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College in 1984 and a Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve School of Law in 1988.  Michele has concentrated her practice on all types of estate planning and estate administration for a wide range of clients and in probate courts throughout Northeast Ohio. Michele has written and spoken extensively on issues regarding estate planning, charitable gifts, and the ownership and inheritance of retirement accounts, to clients, donors, charitable organizations, lawyers and financial advisors. She is a girl scout troop leader.

Scott J. Flynn

Attorney Scott J. Flynn obtained his B.A. from Miami University (2002), and received his J.D. from Capital University Law School (2005).  Upon graduating from law school, Scott returned to his hometown to practice law with his father, John.  Scott lives in Kent, along with his wife Anna, and their four children.  Scott currently serves as President of the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Vice President of the Kent Historical Society Board of Trustees.  Scott also serves on the Boards of the Portage County Children’s Advocacy Center, Portage County Children’s Advantage, and the Portage County Law Library Resources Board.  He is both a member of the Kent Rotary Club and the Kent Jaycees, and previously served on Kent City Council from 2012-2013.

Jason A. Whitacre

Associate

Jason A. Whitacre joined Flynn, Keith & Flynn’s Kent office as an experienced litigation attorney. Jason focuses his practice on civil litigation, with additional concentrations in real estate, small business, and consumer matters. He also counsels clients with issues related to homeowners and condominium associations. Jason is licensed to practice law in both Ohio and Florida.

Jason earned a B.A. in Political Science from Mount Union College nka the Univ. of Mount Union (2000) and a JD from Case Western Reserve University (2003). Jason was recognized as a Rising Star by Ohio Super Lawyers for 2016 through 2018, a designation reserved to the top 2.5% of attorneys in Ohio under the age of 40.

Jason and his wife, Lisa, live in Stow with their five boys, two dogs, and a bearded dragon. He currently serves as an At-Large Board Member of the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District, and volunteers as Vice-President of Hall Operations for Stow Youth Baseball, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to youth baseball.

Laura E. Tsai

Attorney Laura E. Tsai received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida (2002), a Master of Arts degree from Kent State University (2005), and a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami (2009). Upon graduation, Laura relocated to Virginia, where she served as a Magistrate for the City of Norfolk, Virginia. Laura was later appointed as Chief Magistrate for the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Laura received the designation of Certified Court Executive from the National Institute of State Courts, and has served on the Chief Justice’s Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence. Laura is also an experienced instructor, speaking on issues related to criminal justice, mental health and court administration. After many years away, Laura returned home to Ohio in 2018. She joined Flynn, Keith & Flynn to focus on all aspects of estate planning and administration. Laura volunteers at Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary.
